Monique L Voelker, RN, BSN
Founder of Animals Abused & Abandoned, Inc.
Born in Manchester, England, Monique is the eldest daughter of a French-speaking Swiss diplomat. After graduating from high school in New Jersey, while her father was posted to the Swiss Embassy in New York, she attended Texas Women’s University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Now a senior RN in the Neurology Department at the University of Texas Medical School, Monique spent 10 years, early in her career, in the Emergency Room at Parkland Memorial Hospital where she worked as a staff nurse, preceptor, charge nurse and supervising nurse.
Monique has devoted more than 25 years of her nights and weekends to being a volunteer for animal rescue and adoption groups and no-kill shelters in Dallas. The founding of Animals Abused & Abandoned, Inc. is the culmination of her lifelong dream to combine her formidable medical training and experience with her passion for caring for helpless abused and abandoned animals who cannot care for themselves.
